CHRISTIAN ART SHOWING 10+ REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL IN 2020

As believers of Jesus Christ, we have much to be grateful for, even--and maybe especially--during our darkest and most challenging times.

The Thanksgiving season is a perfect time to step back from the chaos and bustle of everyday life and reflect on our blessings. You might consider ways that you can demonstrate your gratitude to family members, coworkers, or others that are close to you.

Our artists draw inspiration from their gratitude for Jesus Christ and His teachings. Here are some of their most inspiring pieces illustrating what they, and perhaps all of us, are most grateful for.

Grateful for Family

Family, whether it be our parents and siblings or a community of people, is grounding. Family relationships can remind us of our values and identity in a busy world that often tries to push its ideas and agendas. Studies have even shown that knowing something about our ancestral lines makes us more resilient and emotionally stable. We begin to understand that we are part of something bigger than ourselves.

Grateful for Healing

One of the biggest blessings that Jesus Christ offers us is healing. While we may not always experience the instantaneous physical healings we read about in the scriptures, trust in God helps us to feel more whole. We may feel guided to resources that will help us or become aware of the changes we need to make. The power of Christ’s Atonement is enabling, giving us the strength we need along the journey of becoming something more than what we are.

Grateful for Forgiveness

Forgiveness is an important part of healing. Whether it extends to those who have harmed us or to ourselves and our own mistakes, there is real power in forgiveness. It can tear down walls and create unity. It can open doors for change and offer hope of a brighter future. Forgiveness doesn’t mean we need to condone bad behavior or put ourselves back in harm’s way. But it does mean trusting God and allowing ourselves and others the space to heal.

Grateful for Acts of Kindness

Throughout His ministry, Jesus performed acts of kindness. Much of our Christian art illustrates these biblical miracles as well as small acts of service in our day. There’s something about lifting someone else’s burdens that lifts our own. This year, with so much division and disagreement, you might reflect on those who have helped you or those you can help. Any of the art you see here makes for a perfect Christian thank you gift to people who have made a positive impact.

Grateful for Daily Miracles

God is truly in the details. If we take time to notice, we may be surprised to see just how much His hand is in our everyday lives. They might be small and unnoticeable to others, but that’s what makes them so meaningful. We can have gratitude throughout the year for these kinds of blessings.

Grateful for God’s Word

In the New Testament, Christ taught that his word was the living water. He taught that with this water, we would never thirst. The scriptures and teachings of church leaders can bring peace, hope, and direction. These are unique gifts to have in a time that may feel like a spiritual drought..

Grateful for Earth’s Wonders

When faced with an opponent who vehemently demanded a sign from God, the prophet Alma taught:

“Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God?... The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yeah, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.”

So this year, stop and smell the roses. Notice the changing of the autumn leaves. Blessings surround us that we might not always be aware of in our daily grind.

Grateful for Positive Role Models

Perhaps you have a family member, a mentor, or a friend who has always inspired you. Or maybe you have a favorite scriptural or historical figure. Anyone who encourages us to be our best selves is a blessing worth counting, especially the supreme role model of the Savior Himself.

Consider showing your appreciation this year by giving an inspiring piece of Christian art.

Grateful for Worship Services

Worship services have taken a hit during 2020. We are not able to meet together in large groups or perhaps participate in the same activities we were accustomed to before. That means that this year, more than ever, we can be grateful for what worship services we can be a part of. Something is emboldening about connecting with people of the same beliefs and values. But no matter what challenges come our way, we will never lose the ability to connect with God.

Grateful for Friendships

Friendships can be some of the most meaningful blessings. They bring fun memories, clear away loneliness, and give us a shoulder to lean on. Our friendships with others allow us to be instruments in God’s hands to answer prayers. This is especially true now that we have had to live more isolated.

Grateful for Christ’s Sacrifice

Perhaps the greatest gift and blessing of all is Christ’s atonement. It is what allows us to be forgiven of sins, to have strength beyond our own, and to be “at one” with God. Without a Savior, our world would remain broken and without hope. It’s no surprise that the LDS art pieces inspired by this sacred event are astounding.

Grateful for Hope in the Resurrection

The resurrection is a vital part of Christ’s atonement. It promises us that death is not the end. Through Jesus Christ, our spirits will be united with our bodies again and will be made whole. During this illness pandemic, this hope is an especially crucial blessing. We can trust that there is more beyond this life and that ourselves and our loved ones will be made whole.
