Inspiring Christian Artwork Illustrating Discipleship

Jesus Christ’s invitation to “Come, follow me” was not just for the twelve apostles. He invites all of us to “come and see”. While we may not live in Christ’s time or be able to witness first-hand the miraculous events we read about in the scriptures, there are many ways we can follow His example in our daily lives.

For example, we can be aware of those immediately around us and help lift their burdens. We can take a courageous stand for what is right. We can share the comforting truths of the gospel with others in a way that helps them find hope and healing.

When we choose bravery and act with faith on God’s word, we can become the salt of the earth that preserves and adds variety. We can be a city on a hill, offering safety for those wandering in the dark.

None of this means that the path of discipleship is easy. Jesus Christ Himself suffered immense pain and humiliation at the hands of His own people. We should not be surprised when we face our own opposition, but we can rest assured in knowing that this life is not the end. The path of discipleship may lead us through some dark storms, but it will always guide us toward an eternal victory more glorious than we can imagine.

14 Illustrations of the Parable of the Lost Sheep

The Lost Sheep is one of Jesus’ most memorable parables. Perhaps that is because it has proven relatable for believers the world over. Even many who do not identify with Christianity understand the concept of wandering or feeling alone.

Yet, no matter how far we feel we have strayed, the beauty of this parable lies in the diligence of the shepherd. Regardless of the ninety-nine sheep that remain in safety, the Good Shepherd notices when His flock is not complete. He recognizes our absence even when it may seem that no one else does. See more.

Jesus Washes Disciples’ Feet: Christian Artwork

The act of washing someone’s feet is one of the most humble acts we read about in the Bible. According to the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, it was common courtesy for a host to present a travel-weary guest with water with which they would wash their own feet. The only time a guest did not perform the task themselves was when the host owned a slave, in which case it would be the slave’s job.

In other words, during this sacred event, Jesus, the Son of Man, knelt and completed the work of a slave. It’s no wonder his disciples were shocked and initially appalled at the idea of their master descending so low and performing a service for them for which they did not feel worthy. See more.

11 Stunning Pictures of Jesus Walking on Water

One of the most miraculous moments in the Bible is when Jesus Christ walks on water to reach his struggling apostles. Multiple books in the New Testament record this event, including Matthew, Mark, and John.

In Matthew, we also find a detailed account of Peter petitioning the Savior to join him. To the apostle’s astonishment, not the least of which Peter’s, he can take a few steps out into the storm before doubt takes over, and Christ rescues him. See more.
